Every foodie’s dream job is to be a food critic, getting paid to eat at the best restaurants around the world. While you might not be getting paid for it, being an IG Food digital creator is the next best thing. Laura M. is the creator and eater behind @North.South.East.Food. She shared some of her tips and tricks to capture the best restaurants and where she likes to go to fill her belly.
Laura has always shared her love of food and all the best places to eat in Gwinnett with her friends and family, and in the last three years, she has expanded her suggestions to the IG world.
To get the scoop on the best and latest restaurants popping up or hidden gems, she follows other in-the-know foodie accounts like Eater Atlanta, Gwinnett Daily Post and AJC Dining. She also suggested following city and downtown district accounts and of course, The DIG.
To capture the photos, she simply uses her iPhone but says the key is lighting and staging. Laura suggested natural light on a patio for amateur photographers or using a camera preset such as “food” or “portrait” mode.
When asked for suggestions on where to go for the “prettiest food,” Laura said, “My number one right now is Falling Rabbit; the food is gorgeous but tastes even better than it looks. Good Word Brewing also has IG-worthy food while being more casual. And to round out the top 3, I would say Local Republic. All three are not just insta-worthy, they’re tasty!”

“Comfort food that we can always count on would be Rico’s World Kitchen in Buford. The sandwiches and lumpia never disappoint. If we can’t decide what type of food we want, we get both Indian and pizza at Rice n’ Pie; it’s Indian flavors on pizza, and their dough is just pillowy goodness.”
