This spring, the bees aren’t the only ones generating buzz. Everyone is talking about the improvements coming to Old Town Lilburn. The City of Lilburn has released a Downtown Master Concept, a guide outlining its goals for making downtown a vibrant, walkable destination while preserving its charm. Allow me to be your guide as we take a tour of the future of Old Town.
As we stroll down Main Street, heading towards the familiar row of shops and restaurants, we’ll pause on the corner of First Avenue to admire the beautiful brick townhouses, restaurants and shops. Children play in a green space, while adults enjoy the covered outdoor seating. Where a 2.6-acre lot stands empty today, a lively space combining residential and commercial buildings will come to life by the end of 2027. Continuing down Main Street, we’ll enjoy familiar local businesses, a guitar lesson from Music on Main Street and a bite to eat at Haven Bodega. Coffee in hand, we’ll cross the street and explore the new row of businesses, which will replace the currently empty lot.
Once we’ve had our fill of stylish boutiques, cozy cafes and local restaurants, we’ll make our way to the Lilburn City Park. Passing the splash pad and playground, we’ll head to the Camp Creek Greenway, a 4.2-mile paved trail. On our walk, we’ll catch a glimpse of the 22 acres of land Lilburn’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has purchased, with plans for further development in the works. Continuing down the greenway, we near Railroad Avenue and the final stop on our tour: The Porchline. This luxury apartment complex is the result of a public-private partnership between Lilburn’s DDA and RangeWater Real Estate. The building’s design is reminiscent of a train station, with cobblestone pavers, a rustic color palette and a large clock suspended above the entrance.
From the greenway, we’ll have direct access to the public courtyard and the parking deck, which includes two levels of public parking. As we explore the building we’ll find two private courtyards, one dedicated to outdoor dining and the other featuring a pool. You won’t have to wait long to experience The Porchline for yourself, as the building opens in September and pre-leasing begins in July. We’ll conclude our tour on The Porchline’s skydeck, where we have a stunning view of Lilburn’s ever-evolving downtown.
There is much to look forward to in Old Town, Lilburn! Click here for more information regarding the Downtown Master Concept.
