This authentic Thai delicacy features a portion of glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk, topped with freshly sliced mango and a drizzle of decadent coconut cream sauce. All around Gwinnett, new places are popping up with summer seasonal desserts and drinks inspired by this tasty dish! That’s right, mango sticky rice season is here and we’ve got the inside scoop on where to find it.

Matcha Cafe Maiko is a popular matcha and Japanese dessert spot with two locations in Duluth and Doraville. They use Organic Ceremonial Grade Matcha from Kyoto, Japan, in their drinks and soft serve, making this place a coveted spot for matcha lovers! Throughout the year, they’ll offer seasonal favorites and for a limited time this summer, mango sticky rice will be on the menu in four variations! This includes a mango soft serve, a mango sticky rice sundae, a mango sticky rice matcha latte and a mango sticky rice slush. All options are dairy-free and vegan-friendly!

For this week’s Foodie Friday feature, we’re spotlighting the mango sticky rice sundae from their new menu. Inspired by the iconic dessert, this sundae features your choice of soft serve, sticky rice, fresh mango chunks, a creamy coconut sauce and toasted rice pieces! We chose the ube soft serve for the base, which added the perfect amount of nutty vanilla flavor to the mix. If you want more of a traditional mango sticky rice experience, try the vegan mango soft serve! Everything about this sundae hit all of the right notes, from the fresh mango pieces and coconut sticky rice to the rich soft serve and crunchy rice pieces.
