And that’s exactly what you’ll find tucked away in the North Georgia mountains at The Groovy Zoo in Mineral Bluff.

Don’t let the name fool you. There are no live animals here. Instead, this quirky roadside attraction is home to hundreds of larger-than-life creatures crafted from metal, aluminum and wood. Proudly known as the only zoo where you can buy the animals, The Groovy Zoo is equal parts outdoor art gallery, photo opportunity and treasure hunt for anyone looking to add a little personality to their home or garden.

The unofficial star of the show is Harold, a towering giraffe who stands approximately 20 feet tall and greets visitors from above the treetops. You can “adopt an animal” from the Groovy Zoo and each animal comes with a birth certificate with their name and date of birth and fun facts about the species you have chosen. The Groovy Zoo has a 200-page catalogue you can browse on their website with photos of every item and pricing. They also have a 3D print farm, and you can browse their selection of dragons, dogs, unicorns and more on their website. 

The attraction has become a favorite stop for travelers exploring the Blue Ridge area, earning praise for its colorful displays, family-friendly atmosphere and one-of-a-kind photo opportunities. Even better? Admission is completely free. So the next time you’re exploring the North Georgia mountains, make a detour to Mineral Bluff.
