TASTE TEST: BARE BONES STEAKHOUSE

By

Located in the Bona Allen building in downtown Buford, this classic steakhouse is comfortable and casual even though the food is anything but!

Unpretentious: the word that first comes to mind when entering Bare Bones. It appears as a casual, laid back steakhouse with a Western flair but once the server starts explaining the menu, hold on to your horses!

Start off with their signature cocktail, the BB Tini, a chilled vodka that’s been infused with pineapples and peaches and goes perfectly with their incredible onion rings which are battered and lightly fried, drizzled with local honey, SarVecchio parmesan cheese and chili flakes.

Being a Master Meat Cutter, owner Buddy Maughon hand-cuts every steak in the house so you know you’re getting the perfect cut every time. All steaks are cooked to perfection over a woodfired stove and can be ordered with your choice of any of their house-made sauces such as bearnaise, a red wine demi glace, and creamed horseradish, among others.

The sides are huge and delicious and are meant for sharing (but we won’t tell if you want to keep them to yourself). Our favorites are the bacon macaroni & cheese, Logan Turnpike grits with cheese, garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach.

Be sure to save room for the decadent desserts! Must trys include the BB ganache cake with housemade ice cream, creme brulee with chocolate sable and, of course, bananas foster which comes with spiced peanuts, italian meringue, brown sugar and spiced rum butter sauce.
