Gwinnett is home to an abundance of unique art galleries with wide-ranging variety and charm. Nestled in beautiful downtown Norcross is a hidden gem: Norcross Gallery and Studios. Formaly known as Kudzu Art Zone established in 2005, NG&S is a community of world-renowned and aspiring artists passionate about arts awareness and supporting the growth and development of local artists throughout the area. Its mission is to increase exposure to the visual arts via education, classes, special exhibitions and unique programming.

NG&S boasts a beautiful professional art gallery, an open concept studio for classes and events and eight private working artists’ studios. Every inch of wall space is a feast for the eyes, from oil and acrylic paintings to collages, drawings and multimedia. Art-lovers will enjoy browsing the gallery Thursday through Saturday. They may even try their hand at creating a masterpiece during Open Studio hours on Thursdays.

The artists and volunteers are active in the community, often presenting themed exhibitions that anyone can enjoy and even taking their work out into the streets. This past Mother’s Day, NG&S partnered with the Historic Norcross Business Association’s celebration by sending artists to paint “en plein air” (outdoors) in areas around South Peachtree Street and local parks. Four of the artists also created coloring pages for the event. They provided copies and crayons to local restaurants for their patrons to enjoy.

You cannot spend time around Norcross Gallery and Studios without noticing the incredibly unique and collaborative vibes. Each member artist dedicates their time and money to the space and has created an environment where any of us can feel welcome to learn, create and be inspired.

Soon a “Friends of the Gallery” membership will be available to the public in an open-arms effort to build relationships with art lovers in the community. Friends will receive updates about the gallery and studio, news and upcoming events and opportunities to contribute and offer support.

Norcross Gallery and Studios’ approach to collaboration and community education is an excellent way to experience and create art in Gwinnett.

Member and globally recognized artist, Anne Emerson Hall, remarks, “We embrace everyone! Artists of all degrees of experience are welcomed with open arms. All artists start from ‘the place that they are,’ and we are here to share what we do, what we know and what we love.”

Wondering how to best enjoy NG&S this fall? Their expanded fall schedule is coming soon, but for now, here are some opportunities right around the corner.
