Alicia Cole began hand-making soaps and lotions nearly a decade ago. After struggling with dry skin and eczema and watching her family and friends suffer, she set out to create hydrating products unavailable on the shelves of most stores. Alicia began formulating bar soaps from the kitchen and basement of her home in Johns Creek that soon had people coming to her for all of their skincare concerns.
As Alicia added to her product line and expanded her offerings, she hostedbooths at festivals and pop-up shops, making a name for her handcrafted wares. While working a full-time corporate job and creating soothing soaps and lotions in her spare time, she dreamed of opening a store front that could also function as a clothing boutique. She looked around and noticed that the city of Duluth was growing and experiencing a significant revitalization, and she thought, “I want to go where the growth is,” Alicia recalls.
When we asked her about her time in Duluth so far, this is what she had to say:
“The community here has welcomed me with open arms. Everyone has been so friendly, and the location in downtown Duluth keeps us close to the amazing food and events.”

Opening a storefront may have been the completion of a decade of dreams and hard work for Alicia, but she is looking to the future every day. Expanding her product line, having space for more creativity and equipment and helping her customers feel more confident in their skin has her dreaming of a bigger store. She says, “Helping people has become such a passion. I love hearing how our products are truly changing the skin and comfort of our customers. It is a daily occurrence to hear an amazing story about how we have helped, and I just want to do more of that.”
When it comes to winter skin woes, Alicia says to use a moisturizer immediately after showering to lock in the hydration and look for products that include oatmeal or honey for that ultra-soothing moisture. As for her top favorite products at Lillie’s right now, she recommends:
- Turmeric Scrub – great for removing dead skin cells, reducing inflammation and assisting in correcting hyperpigmentation.
- Shea Butter Whip – a thick and decadent all-over moisturizer that comes unscented or gently fragranced with natural essential oils.
- Lip Conditioner – made with honey and shea butter for an ultra-soothing lip moisturizer.
All products come unscented or customized to your preference, and right now, Alicia says peppermint essential oil is the star of the show.
