For this week’s Thirsty Thursday spotlight, we’re highlighting Gilly Brew Bar, an exceptional coffee shop and community gathering spot.
Gilly Brew Bar was founded by Daniel Brown, originally a Brooklyn native, who had a vision alongside his wife, Shellane Brown, to help the economic development of Stone Mountain Village. With co-owner Nephthaly Leonidas, the dream has come true as the coffee shop has become a success and a staple in the area. The shop itself is located inside the historic Mayor’s House, which has now become a community incubator. As you walk through the doors, there’s a calming vibe with beautiful plants, plenty of natural lighting and a general positive atmosphere. It’s the type of coffee shop where you want to sit and chat instead of just taking your drink to go.
As for their drink menu, they offer a variety of lattes, teas and elixirs, with a focus on seasonal syrups that are all housemade. This is part of the charm of Gilly Brew Bar, along with their freshly roasted coffee beans, which elevate their espresso-based sips. For our Thirsty Thursday spotlight, we’re spotlighting the seasonal CookieButtah latte, an incredible drink with housemade cookier butter syrup, espresso and your choice of milk. We chose to get this drink iced with almond milk and folks, it may just be the perfect latte outside of Gwinnett! The cookie butter syrup is so flavorful and pairs perfectly with the richness of the espresso. If you’re a fan of those Biscoff cookies that they hand out on flights, this latte tastes just like it!
