City Spotlight: Suwanee

Here’s What We Dig. . .

Suwanee Farmers Market
The Suwanee Farmers Market boasts delectable offerings each week of the summer from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. In addition to a cornucopia of fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, market vendors often include curated selections of pastas, jellies, sauces, spices and rubs, sausage, eggs, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods and even skincare items. The market also features a variety of international flavors, from sweet to savory.
Marking History

If you stepped foot in historic downtown Suwanee this summer, you likely noticed some new signage. The city recently installed signs at historically significant sites throughout Old Town Suwanee, including the Methodist church, Pierce’s Corner, Everett’s Music Barn and more. Many of the sites served as community gathering places dating back to the early days of Suwanee.

The Orchard

Deep in the heart of historic Suwanee sits this hidden jewel. Tucked away just past the community garden lies the Orchard at White Street Park: a fully functional orchard open to the public, the first of its kind in the Southeast. The City of Suwanee and Harvest Farm collaborated to provide families a fun and engaging space. In addition to fruit trees, the Orchard includes lawn areas for relaxation and play, a pavilion, winding pathways and play areas.

SculpTour

Seventeen pieces were installed in Town Center this spring as a part of SculpTour’s seventh installment. Since 2011, the award-winning SculpTour program has showcased nearly 100 works of art in a walkable, one-square-mile area of downtown Suwanee. For those who haven’t seen SculpTour before, this outdoor art museum is the perfect way to spend a day appreciating art and gaining inspiration.

Suwanee Arts Center
Town Center’s first art center, the Suwanee Arts Center, is a hub of arts, culture and creativity in and beyond Suwanee. The non-profit art organization maintains an open membership policy where artists of all types are welcome, making it one of the best locations in the city for one-of-a-kind gifts. The center also hosts year-round art education classes for all ages, exhibits and arts events in Town Center.

Suwanee Fest
Suwanee’s annual two-day celebration of community returns to Town Center Park on September 16 and 17! Nearly 200 vendors and exhibitors, 15 entertainment acts and one amazing parade are just some of the highlights of this beloved fall tradition. For full details about parking, shuttles, vendor listings, entertainment schedule and more, visit SuwaneeFest.com.
