Aurora Theatre’s Magical Holiday Revue “Christmas Canteen” Takes the Stage for its 27th Year

It wouldn’t be Christmas in Gwinnett without the triumphant return of Aurora Theatre’s “Christmas Canteen.” Gwinnett county’s longest-running theatrical holiday tradition will begin its run on the lavish Clyde & Sandra Strickland Grand Stage Theatre at the Lawrenceville Arts Center this month. The highlight of the season, this Aurora original revue is a stunning holiday extravaganza featuring festive songs, show-stopping dance numbers, comic sketches and a delightful cast. The yuletide treat is sure to be the can’t-miss event of the holidays!

“’Christmas Canteen’ is synonymous with Aurora Theatre,” said Co-Founder and Producing Artistic Director Ann-Carol Pence. “Over our 27 years, we have changed, the region has changed, yet ‘Canteen’ has been a joyful, consistent part of our journey. It is my way of saying thank you for allowing Aurora to be a pivotal part of this wonderful community.  Personally, it’s my time to hug a whole lot of special people. Christmas can’t come soon enough for me.”

“Christmas Canteen” has been a hallmark of the Aurora Theatre season and Gwinnett Christmas traditions since its first performance in 1995. Its variety show nature allows it to evolve into something new every year, enthralling audiences whether they’re experiencing their first “Canteen” or their 20th. For its 27th year, the variety show promises new songs, dazzling dance breaks, unexpected surprises and, of course, a sprinkling of holiday cheer.

Aurora Theatre Co-Founder/Producing Artistic Director, Ann-Carol Pence will return to the role of Music Director, faithfully leading the production from her piano for the 27th year. Pence is joined by the all-female creative leadership team of Director Katie Erin Chambers, Choreographer Kari Twyman and Shelli Delgado, who developed the script. The show is rounded up by an incredible cast featuring Russell Alexander, Galen Crawley, Juan Unzueta, Cole Ferguson, Kari Twyman, Isa Martinez, Tyler Kidd, Akasha Nelson and Jahi Bogard.
