OVO follows the storyline of the world unseen for insects, both large and small. It’s an inside look into the magic and wonder of the very insects that live just beneath the surface. OVO translates to “egg” in Portuguese, and you may notice that throughout all three acts of the show, a large egg is in view. The egg symbolizes the life cycle for the insects, as each day is truly a new day full of excitement and new faces. While the concept of the show was created 15 years ago, audience goers will get to see a new reimagined version to dazzle even more.
The show itself runs for 2.5 hours and is packed full of incredible stunts, aerial arts, dance, movement and two unique narratives. If you’re a fan of vibrant colors and adrenaline-pumping energy, this is the show for you! While the bugs themselves talk in their “bug language,” it’s easy to follow the storyline through their body language. As for the narrative, the audience is taken through the budding romance between a blue bug, who is quirky and awkward, and a beautiful ladybug. There’s also a narrative between the leader of all the bugs and a blue newcomer. From the romance aspect to the action of the duel, there is never a dull moment in this show!
Aerial arts are truly mesmerizing to behold and in OVO, there is no shortage of them. Each jaw-dropping act relates to the insect’s daily life of scouring for food, working, fluttering and playing. We won’t give any of the spoilers away regarding their amazing acts but let’s just say you’ll witness graceful balancing skills from a dragfly, precision from red ants gathering food and so much more.
