5 WITHIN 50: SPRING BREAK

By

Spring break is just around the corner, but not to worry—we’ve got you covered with a list of can’t-gowrong places to go and things to see that everyone in the family will love!

TELLUS SCIENCE MUSEUM
100 TELLUS DRIVE | CARTERSVILLE

The kiddos will totally forget that they’re mad at you for dragging them to a science museum on spring break after you arrive at Tellus. The 120,000 squarefoot, world-class museum features four main galleries dedicated to minerals, fossils, science in motion and one intriguingly named My Big Backyard. There’s a 120-seat digital planetarium, an observatory with a state-of-the-art 20-inch telescope, an 80- foot-long Apatosaurus, a replica Wright Brothers airplane and hands-on experiments in light, sound, magnets and more.

ANNA RUBY FALLS
3455 ANNA RUBY FALLS ROAD | HELEN

Take a scenic half mile hike on a paved trail (strollerfriendly!) to view a rare tumbling pair of beautiful double waterfalls near Helen. The waterfalls merge Curtis Creek and York Creek to form Smith Creek. The 0.15-mile Lion’s Eye trail near the visitor center and craft shop is available for persons with visual and physical disabilities. When you’re finished, grab some goobers at Fred’s Famous Peanuts

DAUSET TRAILS NATURE CENTER ANIMAL TRAILS
360 MT. VERNON ROAD | JACKSON

Birds of prey accidentally struck by vehicles, baby animals mistaken for orphans by well-meaning citizens, nuisance animals—all of these rescued, but non-releasable animals are taken in by the Dauset Trails Nature Center. Exhibits were originally created for their protection and display, and gradually grew to become the 1/3-mile Animal Trail you see today. Easily accessible by foot, strollers and wheelchairs, these animals are used to teach students of all ages the importance of each species and its role in our ever-changing world.
