“Is there sugar in syrup? Then YES.”

Don’t be a cotton-headed ninny-muggins—check out these amazing sweet tooth fixes, all within our own county borders.

FRENCH TOAST
RUSHING TRADING CO.
5029 WEST BROAD STREET, SUGAR HILL
Who says sweets are just for after you clean your plate? A true sugar freak starts the day right with the second-best thing the French have given the world: their toast. Rushing Trading Co. french toast starts with soaking thick brioche in a custard base, then stuffing it with cream  cheese and serving with organic bourbon cask maple syrup. A gourmet coffee house (think Central Perk, but without the sofa [unfortunately]) (though there is often a girl playing an acoustic guitar), Rushing Trading Co. can also provide the perfect coffee and puts the sugar in Sugar Hill.

THE PRETTIEST COOKIE EVER
THE ROLLING PIN COOKIE COMPANY
THEROLLINGPINCOOKIECOMPANY.COM
One of our DiGgers on the five-year-old birthday circuit noticed the absolute prettiest cookies she has ever seen consistently popping up at parties. Every one of those perfectly on-theme cookies came from The Rolling Pin in Lawrenceville (and HER daughter’s 5th birthday party will feature flamingo cookies from The Rolling Pin!). A simple sugar cookie decorated to the nines, The Rolling Pin handcrafts each and every cookie. They come individually package in a cello bag, perfect for takeaway favors at a birthday party, shower or as a token of client appreciation.

KING OF POPS
TREE STORY BAKERY & CAFÉ
2550 PLEASANT HILL ROAD, DULUTH
In their own words, King of Pops started with a couple thousand bucks, a used ice cream pushcart and a whole lot of luck. With the purpose of making the world a better place via Unexpected Moments of Happiness, King of Pops offers amazing flavors such as Chocolate Sea Salt, Banana Puddin’ and Orange Cream as well as seasonal flavors like Cinnamon Apple (fall), BOOreo Cheesecake (fall) and Maple Brown Sugar (winter). And Pops aren’t just for people— check out King of Pups for your FBFF (Furry Best Friend Forever).

GRILLED CUPCAKES
SUGAR HILL BAKERY & CAFÉ
4969 W BROAD ST, SUGAR HILL
Let’s just set expectations now: Sugar Hill Bakery & Café is the quirkiest place you’ve ever been. Don’t believe us ? Check out their website. The charming cover photo is the owner having a delightful tea party with stuffed animals whilst dressed as a fairy. We’re not judging so much as wishing it were a photo of us. One of the most unique places in metro Atlanta, Sugar Hill Bakery & Café has become the go-to place for hosting a book club meeting, drinking wine with friends or having a fairy-inspired birthday party for your kids. You enter through a wardrobe. If you’re passing by in the AM, we recommend the crème brûlé french toast; any other time of day, consider the grilled cupcake (yep, you read that correctly).

THE “I DO” CAKE
THE BAKING GROUNDS BAKERY CAFÉ
4360 S. LEE STREET, BUFORD
The Baking Grounds Bakery Café is a real old-fashioned specialty cake boutique that has been creating cakes for all occasions since 1958. Baked from scratch, fresh from the oven and never frozen, The Baking Grounds practically ensures that brides, grooms, and anyone else seeking a cake will choose them after one bite. While you’re there, try the Orange Dreamsicle cupcake — orange pound cake with orange mousse butter creme icing. It’s like your childhood, but all grown up. AND AMAZING. Pair it with a fresh roasted coffee creation and declare it breakfast. (What?? It has fruit—the name clearly says ORANGE.)

DRAGON’S BREATH
ICE CREAM ROLL IT UP
1864 SCENIC HWY NORTH, SNELLVILLE
We would be remiss if we left anything cold off of this list; any true Sweet Tooth knows ice cream is essential. If you’re in the Snellville area, check out Roll It Up Ice Cream, made fresh-toorder in two forms: liquid nitrogen and rolled. Flavors are inspired by tastes around the world, like Matcha PiChu (matcha and strawberries), Ice Cream Sandwiches (ice cream sandwiched between either two Fruity Pebbles cereal cakes or two fresh cookies) and the all-American Nutty Buddy (Nutella and peanut butter). Try the Dragon’s Breath for an extra creamy, dairy-free nitrogen treat!
