Wastin’ Away in Margaritaville

If you’ve never wasted away the summer on an island, don’t miss out on the opportunity to take advantage of the island experience in Gwinnett’s own backyard at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands.  We asked Bucky Perry, VP of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands what’s the biggest secret at the 1,500 acre resort and entertainment complex, he said, “all the activities we offer year-round at Margaritaville Lanier Islands! From our cruises on weekends, to weekday specials at LandShark Bar & Grill, like Low Country Boil Tuesdays, Wine Down Wednesdays and the winter activities we offer at License to Chill Snow Island, there are plenty of fun activities for our guests to enjoy any time of the year!”

Don’t know the reason – Stayed here all season

Spring: Chill at your own pace by renting a paddle board, kayak or pontoon from the marina. If you love being on the water, but not the maintenance of a boat, consider the Boating Country Club…yes, it’s a thing! All the fun and enjoyment of having a boat, but none of the stress or hassle of owning a boat!

Summer: You can’t talk about Margaritaville in the summer without mentioning the water park! Thrill seekers will enjoy the TWISTER as it spins riders into a vortex, dumping into a plunge pool.  Or the white-knuckle vertical drop of the INTIMIDATOR (seriously, you are perpendicular, relying on force and gravity to keep you on the slide).  CALL OUT: Coming new this summer (2021) Parrot Mountain will make its debut.  It was originally created for our snow tubing during the winter, the 8-story high and 575 feet long dry slide will open this summer.

Fall: Did you know you can JUST go to the beach? Buy a beach pass and enjoy your favorite sporting event or take in a movie from a beach chair with a beer in your hand on the giant big screen. Hit it up on a weekend when football games are starting up and it’s the perfect way to hang on to that summer time feeling with your toes in the sand when it’s still 80 degrees in September.

Winter: Think Margaritaville is only for warm temps? Think again! License to Chill Snow Island (November – January) transforms the water park into a winter wonderland, with snow tubing hills and snow ball fights; hot chocolate and fire pits; twinkle lights and Santa Claus.

When you are on island time, you can eat at any time. The waterpark offers various CHILL ZONE eateries open seasonally. For a good time and great meal, LandShark Bar & Grill offers authentic Caribbean-style fish tacos that are “who cares how messy” goodness and simply the best key lime pie. We recommend Loaded Landshark beer (trust us) or something from the FINS bar menu like the Stranded on a Sandbar with passion fruit tequila. *There is a fee to get into the beach area to eat at the Landshark Restaurant, but once you are there, kick off your flip flops and enjoy the view.  Don’t miss Low Country Boil Tuesdays!

That frozen concoction that helps me hang on:

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, might as well cruise the lake and have a drink (safely). Margarita Cruises offers a sampling of six specialty margaritas (and other signature drinks) and a build-your-own nacho and taco bar, peel-and-eat shrimp with bloody Mary cocktail sauce, empanadas and chips and queso. An evening well spent on the water “wastin’’ away again in Margaritaville!” Margaritaville also offers a brunch cruise if you prefer Sundays and mimosas.

Searchin’ for my lost shaker of salt:

If you know what FULL HOOK UP is and need a 50’ pad (RV terms), then this is a great spot to pull in, drop your leveling jacks and pull out the awning. Enjoy the upscale amenities and conveniences beyond a traditional RV resort experience.  Phase 3 at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort and our additional cabins will be coming to Margaritaville Lanier Islands this summer.

No RV, no worries: Margaritaville rents cabins that sleep 4-6 people comfortably and have their own stone fire pit and lake views. There are other camp amenities around Lake Lainer such as Georgia Glamping or Shoal Creek Campground just outside the gates of the resort (6 miles away). Also, Legacy Lodge and Villas offer plush accommodations for those not into sleeping under the stars.
