Tipsee: Earth Day Cocktails

Every year on April 22nd, we celebrate our home, Planet Earth. Earth Day is about raising awareness of environmental change to create a brighter future. People celebrate in a variety of different ways such as planting trees or drinking daiquiris! Each cocktail is paired with a “Did You Know?” fact, and are inspired by the four elements of our planet: fire, air, earth and water. As you’re sipping on your element of the earth, you’re also learning it’s worth!

Fire | Tequila Sunrise

With this cocktail, fires aren’t the only ones getting “lit”
“Did You Know”? Earth is the only planet where fire can burn.

Ingredients
2 oz. blanco tequila
4 oz. orange juice
¼  oz. grenadine
Garnish with orange and maraschino cherry

Directions
Pour the tequila and orange juice into a glass with fresh ice.
Top glass with grenadine, which will sink to the bottom for a gradient effect.
Garnish with orange and maraschino cherry.

Air | Mint Mojito

This refreshing cocktail is like a “breath” of fresh air!
“Did You Know”? A person takes approximately 20,000 breaths of air each day. 

Ingredients
3 mint leaves
½ oz. simple syrup
2 oz. white rum
¾ oz.  tablespoon lime juice, freshly squeezed
Top with club soda
Garnish with mint and lime

Directions
Combine the mint and the simple syrup cocktail shaker. Add rum, lime juice and ice. Cover and shake until all ingredients are well mixed.
Strain the mixture from the shaker into a glass with fresh ice.
Top glass with club soda.
Garnish with mint and lime. 

Water | Blue Lagoon

Take a “splash” into the fruity flavor of this tropical cocktail!
“Did You Know”? Approximately 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water.

Ingredients
1 oz. vodka
1 oz. blue curaçao
4 oz. lemonade
Garnish with lemon and maraschino cherry

Directions
Add vodka, blue curaçao, lemonade and ice into a cocktail shaker. Cover and shake until all ingredients are well mixed.
Strain the mixture from the shaker into a glass with fresh ice.
Garnish with lime and maraschino cherry.

Earth | Bloody Mary

This classic cocktail may be red, but it’s “rooted” in the greens of the earth!
“Did You Know”? Approximately 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water.

Ingredients
Celery salt
1 lemon wedge
1 lime wedge
2 oz. vodka
4 oz. tomato juice
2 teaspoons horseradish
2 dashes of tabasco and worcestershire sauce
1 pinch of black pepper and paprika
Garnish parsley, green olives, lime and celery

Directions
Sprinkle some celery salt onto a small plate.
Rub the wet side of the lemon or lime along the rim of a glass.
Place the outer edge of the glass into the celery salt until the rim is fully coated and fill the glass with ice to set aside.
Squeeze the lemon and lime juice into a cocktail shaker along with the peels.
Add vodka, tomato juice, horseradish, tabasco, worcestershire, pepper, paprika, pinch of celery salt and ice into the cocktail shaker. Shake until well combined.
Strain the mixture from the shaker into the prepared glass.
Garnish with parsley, olives, lime and celery.
