The Mitsubishi Electric Classic presented by Vensure: Supporting Local Charities

As part of the PGA Tour Champions, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic presented by Vensure is a popular golf tournament that draws fans from all over! It’s coming to TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia, for a multi-day event from April 20-26, perfect for golf enthusiasts to see their favorite competitors in person. Along with providing fans with an opportunity to see the action of a PGA tournament, this tournament also serves another purpose: raising money for local charities.

Kicking off on the first day of the tournament on Monday, April 20, is a special Executive Women’s Day event presented by Northside Hospital. This event is designed to celebrate the accomplishments and power of women in the Metro Atlanta area, provide networking opportunities and unify those with common interests. It will take place at the Gas South Convention Center at 9:30 a.m. for a full day of enriching experiences from a Corporate Panel: Power at the Table discussion to a special conversation with keynote speaker Gretchen Corbin, President and CEO of the Georgia Lottery. To close out the day will be a Wine Down & Networking opportunity, taking place at TPC Sugarloaf for the perfect end to a day of connection and empowerment. One of the driving factors of the tournament is to help support local charities, which is achieved through a variety of initiatives. Since the inception of the tournament in 2013, they have donated more than $5.75 million to organizations across Gwinnett County and Metro Atlanta. There are four Community Giving Pillars that the tournament uses as a guideline, including education, special needs assistance, military & first responders and sustainability. Charities are selected according to these four pillars! From there, there are four Community Giving Programs that the tournament utilizes to help support selected charities. This includes Tournament Beneficiaries, Birdies for Charity, Tickets Fore Good and In-Kind Donations.

For Tournament Beneficiaries, the net proceeds from the tournament are donated to two beneficiaries who are selected annually. This year’s selected beneficiaries are Clink Charities and Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett! Birdies for Charity, presented by Northside Hospital, selects a variety of participating charities to support, which include Cooper’s Crew, Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett, Grayson Cluster Schools Foundation, and the Women’s Club of Sugarloaf C.C. Charities. As for Tickets Fore Good, this fundraising program allows participating organizations to sell tickets through a unique tracking link and receive 50% of ticket sales. Lastly, In-Kind Donations is an aspect of the tournament that supports local events through in-kind and product donations.
