The story behind the Ark on Lake Lanier dates back to 2006, when the current owner, Jeff, noticed a house for sale while he was out on a run. The property wasn’t exactly what he was looking for but when the seller mentioned another house, Jeff agreed to take a look and instantly fell in love. It was the perfect place for his family to enjoy late-night bonfires, four-wheel adventures and everything in between. Unfortunately, the house wasn’t actually for sale at the time, but six months later, Jeff received a call that the house was on the market and decided to follow his heart to purchase it. Renovations took place in 2007, transforming the property but a year later, a devastating fire broke out while Jeff’s family was out of town and destroyed everything.
In 2009, the rebuilding process took place but Jeff found himself wanting to add more bedrooms to the property, leading to the additions you can find today with 14 bedrooms. Once everything was complete, Jeff decided to open up his home to a group of missionaries who needed a place to stay. Flash forward to 2013 and Jeff decided to turn the property into a short-term rental, naming it after a Noah’s Ark figurine that a friend gave him. Since then, many groups, including nonprofits, ministries, family reunions and corporate retreats have rented out this property, calling the Ark on Lake Lanier their home. What was once a home to Jeff’s family has now turned into a beloved rental property serving large groups from across the state.
This property is truly a premier place for large gatherings and can comfortably accommodate large groups ranging from 25 to 40 guests. The main house contains multiple living rooms, 14 bedrooms, a 16-seat theater room, 3 fully-equipped kitchens, a gym and plenty of entertainment space. From its family-style dining area to its indoor foosball table, there’s plenty of room to fit your group’s needs! The interior design is also beautifully done, making this rental feel cozy and inviting.
As you step outside of the main house, you’re greeted with a stunning backyard complete with an outdoor patio area, a firepit, a volleyball court, croquet, 3 cabins with additional accommodation options, a hot tub and a view of Lake Lanier. If your group is interested in water recreation, there’s a private dock on the property where you can enjoy boating, kayaking, paddleboarding and more! During the winter months, the firepit area is a great place to relax, make s’mores and stargaze.
