Taste Test: Sushi Sensation

Let’s roll our taste buds on a delicious adventure as we indulge in some traditional Japanese cuisine! No need to grab your passport; our DiG Team had the sushi-sational privilege of welcoming Nakato Japanese Restaurant to our office for a Temaki Party! What’s a Temaki Party, you ask? It’s a fun gathering where we flex our culinary creativity and hand-roll our own sushi cones! This holiday tradition brings friends and family together for fellowship and, of course, a tasty meal.

Chef Kinjo, who just happens to be the father of one of our fabulous DiG team members, guided us step by step on how to create our own sushi masterpieces. Let’s just preface that he made it look way easier than it was! Ready to see how we rolled? Check out the step-by-step below!

Step 1: Grab the Seaweed First things first, get yourself a sheet of nori. That’s fancy for seaweed. Hold it horizontally with the shiny side facing down. It’s like the little black dress of sushi—always in style!

Step 2: Spread The Sushi Rice Time to get your hands a bit sticky! Spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the left third of the nori in a triangular shape. Think of it as creating a delicious little canvas for your masterpiece!

Step 3: Add Your Fillings Here comes the fun part! Place your desired ingredients inside. Our team went with avocado, cucumber and imitation crab but feel free to unleash your inner sushi artist—the roll knows no limits! Get wild and add whatever tickles your taste buds!

Step 4: Roll It Up Now, roll the bottom left corner of the nori up to the middle of the top edge to form a triangle. Keep rolling until you’ve created a fabulous cone shape. It’s like a sushi ice cream cone—who wouldn’t want that?

Step 5: Seal The Deal To make sure everything stays together, put a tiny piece of rice on the tip of the nori to secure those folds. We want this beauty to stay intact while you devour it!

Step 6: Enjoy The Goodness Kanpai! You’ve created your very own Temaki Sushi Roll. Now, dig in and enjoy the fruits of your labor. You’ve earned it!
