Taste Test: Blue Rooster Bake Shop & Eatery

By

The cutest cafe, the most indulgent case of sweets, and the specialty coffees and sandwiches are sure to turn you into a regular at Blue Rooster in Lawrenceville.
Formerly the Blue Rooster Cafe of Lilburn, the restaurant owners moved their cafe to Lawrenceville in 2013 after a two-year hiatus from the business. Focusing on sandwiches, to-go lunch specials, bagels and muffins, Blue Rooster also features a selection of decadent baked goods. Other fare that can be enjoyed includes: baked ham sandwiches, veggie sandwiches, soup and half sandwiches, boxed lunches with a choice of pasta or potato salad, grilled chicken Caesar and the famous Original Blue Rooster Chicken Salad. Also, the Little Blue Rooster for kids: a to-go lunch featuring peanut butter and jelly.

Our personal favorites are the chicken salad served on a buttery croissant, the chicken and dumplings (only served on select days), the brownies (especially the ones topped with cheesecake!), the cinnamon rolls which are the size of a small plate, as well as the coconut macaroons which are dipped in chocolate on the bottom. The brownies are thick and chewy and are big enough to share (but we highly doubt you’ll want to).
