Solo Holiday Night Out

By Karen Warren

The holidays are here, and while that often brings joy and time with loved ones, it can also be a difficult or overwhelming time for some people. That’s why, amid all the holiday chaos, sometimes it’s nice to take yourself out on a little date.

A great starting point, Read It Again Bookstore in Suwanee invites you to find a new cozy book to curl up with for a few hours. Peruse the shelves, or ask the staff for their picks to find your next reading adventure. The store also hosts a number of events, including author meet-and-greets, book clubs and specialty gatherings, so check the store’s event calendar to see if there’s something that strikes your fancy.

Of course, nothing pairs better with a good book than your favorite coffee and sweet treat. At U&ME Coffee Bakery & Wine in Peachtree Corners, enjoy a seasonal drink like an eggnog latte accompanied by a flaky croissant as you get lost in the story of your new favorite characters. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a few hours of quality time with yourself.

For a more immersive experience with your imagination, grab a ticket to one of the Eagle Theatre’s holiday performances. Located in Sugar Hill, the Eagle Theatre kicks off the holiday season with Miracle on 34th Street, featuring shows from Nov. 6-8 and Nov. 13-15. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, celebrate with live music from John Berry (Nov. 27), Broad St. Concert Band and Capitol City Xpress Big Band (Nov. 28) and Joe Gransden (Nov. 29). And on Dec. 5 and 6, laugh along with the On the Stage Children’s Theatre during Elf Jr. The Musical.

Regardless of which activities you choose, spending a solo day or night out on your own could be the best gift you give yourself this holiday season!
