Ribbon Cutting for The Chapel on Lanier

On this past Monday, September 22, the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Chapel on Lanier kicked off! This new wedding venue for Lanier Islands is a testament to generational love, honoring the legacy of the Williams family members. The chapel is dedicated to Sara D. Williams and features an on-site memorial garden dedicated to Mendy Williams Bowling.

This gorgeous wedding venue can host up to 160 guests and features Southern charm through its architectural details. There’s a grand entrance lined with beautiful Crepe myrtles, perfect for the bridal party’s entrance. Inside, the chapel features an ensuite bridal suite, an open area for a ceremony, stunning chandeliers, and arched windows. Adjacent to the chapel is the memory garden, an ideal location for an after-ceremony reception, featuring flowers and a large gazebo. Both the chapel and memory garden have picturesque views of Lake Lanier, creating an atmosphere of serene beauty, perfect for tying the knot.

At the ribbon-cutting event, Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort, spoke a few words on what this chapel means to the Williams family. He fondly recalled how much his mother loved weddings, the idea of romance and gardening, making the memory garden a perfect representation of who she was and her legacy. As for his grandmother, he spoke about how kind a person she was and how fitting it is that the chapel serves as a reminder of her love to his grandfather, Virgil Williams. It was fitting that by pure chance, the first wedding held at the venue took place on the wedding anniversary of Virgil and Sara Williams, continuing their love through new declarations of love at the chapel.
