Tag, you’re it!
This issue, we’re challenging you, the reader, to go out and enjoy some of the AMAZING art in Gwinnett. Located in different cities all around the county, from Suwanee to Duluth and even Buford, there is bound to be a sculpture, painting or installation that speaks to you. Don’t be afraid to snap some pictures—we hope you’ll share your favorites with us by using the hashtag #diggingupart!

Here’s some inspiration to get you started:

FLOWER STRUCTURE
SUWANEE
Chicago may be coined “The Windy City,” but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy kinetic art (a.k.a. wind-activated moving sculptures) here in Gwinnett. The Kinetic Flower Structure by Al Garnto, located in Suwanee, is a part of the city’s 2019 SculpTour and is made of carbon steel, stands at a towering 12 feet and weighs over 300 pounds!

HUDGENS ART CENTER’S FOWLER GALLERY AND KISTNER ATRIUM
DULUTH
Celebrate the latest featured artist at Hudgens, Columbus Cook. This exhibition showcases architectural renderings, contour drawings and introspective sketches of objects that Cook sees on walks around his neighborhood.

TANNERY ROW ARTIST COLONY
BUFORD
What happens when over 25 talented artists get to work in the same building? We get beautiful art, of course! With pieces in various mediums and genres, you’re sure to find something that calls to you. Have fun strolling through the gallery, and perhaps do a little shopping while you’re there…everything is local and handmade!
