Looking for a number 1 with a side of 2b? We’ve got you covered. Nothing says romance like a sweet summer picnic with the one (or ones) you love, but when you need to find the perfect spot, plan the day, check the weather, select the food and pack your bags, it can seem a bit daunting. That’s where we come in! Our DiG team has done the research and curated some picture-perfect picnic plans that are sure to have you saying “more, please!” to al fresco dining.

Downtown Day-Date
If you want the picnic experience without the whole packing your own food and hiking to a remote location thing, then a downtown date is definitely your vibe! Gwinnett is home to some great downtowns that are full of beautiful green space, restaurants (hello food-to-go), and if you plan it right, live entertainment! We recommend ordering a Pop-up Picnic from the delectable Choo Choo Charcuterie and taking a trip to Lillian Webb Park in downtown Norcross.

Family-Friendly Fun
Looking for a family-friendly itinerary? Let everyone stretch out in one of Gwinnett’s fantastic parks! For a low-key day, swing by your favorite Gwinnett establishment and grab some grub to-go. Pack a blanket, games, some extra water and snacks and don’t forget your sunscreen! We love the gorgeous views, playground and walking trails at Sims Lake Park in Suwanee. Plus, there are a ton of great local restaurants that are sure to please everyone in the family.

Environmental Escapade
Feeling adventurous? Pack your basket (or backpack) and become one with nature at the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center (GEHC). Located on 233 wooded acres, the GEHC is home to 5 miles of trails, unique exhibits, one of the nation’s largest vegetated roofs, and the ultimate outdoor adventure — Treetop Quest! The first certified LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building in Gwinnett, the GEHC is the perfect spot for environmentalists and adventure seekers of all kinds! If you’re looking to get outside of your hometown bubble, we also suggest Fort Yargo Park, Yellow River Park, or Lake Lanier Parks.

Vineyard Venture
There’s a regular ol’ picnic, and then there’s Picnic d’Chateau! Kick your staycation up a notch with the ultimate picnic experience at Chateau Elan Winery & Resort. Guests can have their basket delivered straight to their room or pick it up at the winery. Inside you’ll find your choice of wine along with a chef-curated collection of Marin French Cheese, Petite Breakfast Fresh Brie, Pancetta, Prosciutto, Grapes, Olives, Pickled Vegetables and more. (Is your mouth watering yet?) Everything is taken care of for you, including plates, wine glasses and utensils. All you have to do is pick the perfect spot, but with 3,000 acres of gorgeous vineyard property to choose from, there’s really no “wrong” choice.

Pro Tip: Don’t forget the necessities! Pack items like sunscreen, a blanket, plates, napkins, utensils, a bluetooth speaker and games to keep the good times rolling!
