Never Have I Ever…Stayed in a Tree House

By

When you marry a very handy outdoorsman who has everything, you are unknowingly signing up for a life of difficult gift-giving. With my husband’s birthday quickly approaching and absolutely no idea what to get him, I started to brainstorm some ideas about experiences rather than a physical gift. Luckily, my insistent Instagram habit served me well and I remembered all of the unique tree house getaways that I had seen recently. I quickly went to work to try and get something booked. Did I mention his birthday is Labor Day weekend? First one? Booked. Second one? Booked. Just when I was about to give up, I came across the most charming little tree house right here in metro Atlanta. Meet TreeHaus ATL. Located in Smyrna, less than two miles from The Battery and Truist Park, this sweet little spot is a true escape hidden inside the hustle and bustle of the city.

TreeHaus ATL was built in 2020 by Amie & Jeff Carter (with a little help from Charlotte, an adorable Goldendoodle and official tree house mascot). After Jeff stumbled across the property online, he knew exactly what he wanted to do with it. It took him years to track down the owner and finally purchase the property, but after that the plan and vision quickly came to life.

Upon our arrival at TreeHaus ATL we parked at the designated parking pad and grabbed our bags to walk the short path up to the tree house. After passing the firepit area, we navigated three bridges up to the porch and let ourselves in using the provided keypad (the entire booking & entry process was super easy). From the moment we stepped through the front door we were wowed by the impeccable design and decor. It was quite the upgrade from the tree house days of our youth.

The property has one bedroom, one bathroom with a sleeping loft and a stunning 400 square foot deck that sits 23 feet in the air. Although we opted not to bring our dogs, the property is dog friendly and even has an adorable teepee dog house built into the deck. Inside, you will find a small, comfortable sitting area that is open to the entry and kitchen. Just behind the kitchen is the bathroom, which features a unique corrugated metal shower. From the sitting area, a ship ladder will lead you up to a king-sized bed in the sleeping loft where you have gorgeous, wooded views from the front and back of the property.

No detail was left undone at TreeHaus ATL. From the high-end finishes and upgraded cookware to the magical string lights and quaint firepit area, it was obvious that a lot of care and attention had been poured into bringing it to life. Whether you’re searching for a rustic nature feel, or you’re more of a luxurious linens and Nespresso machine kind of traveler, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for in this unique property.

You can find TreeHaus ATL on airb&b and on Instagram @thetreehausatl. I highly recommend booking soon as this little hidden gem won’t stay hidden for long!
