As we enter the wonderful season of change, Lilburn is embracing this Spring motto with a new development project by RangeWater. Located in Old Town Lilburn, the area of old warehouses at the end of Railroad Avenue will soon become luxury apartments! Besides giving local residents more housing opportunities, the intention behind this project is to redevelop the area for economic growth and more public interconnectedness. It will also give young professionals in the area the ability to pick housing with luxe amenities that haven’t been offered in the area before.
Railroad Avenue
Work on the warehouse area has already begun as they’ve officially closed over the past week. Kicking off this first week of March, minor repairs to the inside will begin, ensuring it’s safe for demolition. After demolition, the fun begins with a groundbreaking ceremony this April! The date of the ceremony is yet to be announced so stay tuned for further details.
Luxury Meets the Railroad Industry
As for the apartment complex itself, renderings show that the space will include a public and private parking deck with 700 spaces and 269 luxury apartments. The theme will have an upscale railroad vibe, paying homage to the area’s ties and creating a unique aesthetic for the complex. By using a combination of brick and steel as well as an earthy and muted color palette, it’s sure to be a stunning design. The complex will be redeveloped with sustainable infrastructure to include a connected public space and softscaping along the landscape. A portion of the complex is directly across from City Park with a planned public passage and plaza to connect the two.
New Additions
Another exciting project known as 57 Railroad Ave in the area will change the landscape of downtown even further by adding a food hall, brewery, office space and condos. The parking deck that will be added to the Railroad Avenue apartment complex will be used in conjunction for parking in this new area. In turn, this will connect residents to the Lilburn community! Thirsty for a local brew? Simply walk over to the downtown area on one of the connected parkways! That’s what makes this project so exciting, especially for those who enjoy being close and connected.
*The DDA has several proposals relating to 57 Railroad Avenue, so its future use is still unknown.
While the details of this exciting project are still in the beginning stages, more information will be released as construction progresses! The estimated completion of this project is for the winter of 2026 or 2027.
