July Events in Duluth: Music, Movies & Summer Fun

Sun, fun, rinse, repeat! There is so much to look forward to in the city of Duluth this July! From Community Cup watch parties to stand-up comedy shows, live music and entertainment, food trucks, crafts, and a very special star spangled laser show, there will be no shortage of good times and groovy vibes. Don’t be shy, come on over and experience the variety of indoor and outdoor events happening in Duluth this summer!

Keep those ears open this July to hear about all of the anticipated performances coming to Duluth’s well loved theater: the EOP! EOP (Eddie Owen Presents at Red Clay: Music Venue and School) is known for its status as both a musical mecca for established and emerging artists in the Duluth area, as well as its educational role as a school of music. Artists of all kinds flock to the EOP, so the shows are all incredibly unique and impactful.

  • Kick off your July with a lick of Jazz! Eddie Owen Presents at Red Clay is  welcoming back the Jazz Legacy Project this July 1st from 7:00 – 9:00 PM.  Here you can listen in style to performances and records of famous hits while you learn about legends.
  • EOP is also partnering with the city of Duluth and welcomes all chuckle-heads to attend a stand up comedy night at the Clay on July 3rd (8:00 – 10:00 PM). Join us and laugh yourself silly as you enjoy sets from a line-up of talented comedians.
  • Check out one of the many concerts playing at the EOP this July! Whatever your tastes may be, there are plenty of tribute bands performing at the Clay, from a Bob Seger special on July 4th (6:00 – 8:00 PM), to a Beatles tribute on the 17th (8:00 – 10:00 PM), to Tattoo You’s multi-band performance of the Rolling Stones’ greatest hits and deepest cuts on July 24th (8:00 – 10:00 PM).

It’s America’s 250th birthday this year, and to celebrate, Duluth is throwing a HUGE party! Join us in Downtown Duluth on July 3rd from 6:00 – 10:00 PM for a Star Spangled Laser Show. Expect live music, food trucks, patriotic mascots, family fun, and of course a high-energy laser show beginning at 9:30 PM. There will be stars, there will be stripes, and you bet your bottom dollar, there will be stunning lights!

Speaking of stunning lights, Downtown Duluth is bringing the glitz and the glam of Las Vegas to town on July 11th! Attend Viva Las Duluth (5:30 – 9:00 PM) to experience a truly unforgettable evening of Vegas-style fun!

Need a little routine in your summer mix, but don’t want to get bored of doing the same thing every week? Check out Parson’s Thursday Nights Out, where you can experience a new activity every Thursday night from 6:00 – 9:00 PM! Movies and Margaritas, Mariachi, Dueling Pianos, Pop-Up Parties are only a few of the many exciting things going down in Parson’s Alley this July. Keep an eye out for weekly updates so that you don’t miss out on a single thing!

Make your way down to the Duluth Town Green every Friday night (6:00 – 9:00 PM) for their Rock the Block: Live & Loud series. Witness the Town Green transform into the perfect outdoor concert venue every Friday night, and enjoy high-energy live performances as you snack on food from local restaurants and food trucks. Whatever genre, ballad, or headbangin’ tune you might rock with, Rock the Block has you covered!

  • Bonus! On Friday July 10th (6:00 – 9:00 PM) you can double feature the fun with Rock the Block: Flicks on the Bricks. There will be crafts zones, food trucks and themed entertainment on the Town Green before this month’s movie begins at 7:15 PM – perfect for the kids (and the kid-adjacent adults like me)!

With all of these great events happening outside this July, the city of Duluth invites you to stay active, and is partnering with Be Active Gwinnett to provide residents with Live Healthy Gwinnett’s Duluth Days of Play. Interactive outdoor games and fun-filled, family-friendly activities await on July 14th (5:00 – 6:30 PM); this Day of Play is also a great chance to find out more about valuable community resources and how to access them in your day-to-day life!

Lastly, mark your calendars for July 15th where you can join all your fellow soccer lovers on the Activity Lawn in Downtown Duluth for the Community Cup Watch Party (2:00 – 5:00 PM). Play yard games and enjoy the lively party atmosphere as you take in the semifinal match of the game that has been shaking the state (as well as the rest of the world)!
