DiG Deep: Greenways Around Gwinnett

There’s something so tranquil about connecting with the outdoors and taking a relaxing walk to your favorite local coffee shop. As the rise of urban development continues, it’s frustrating that the only option is to either drive to a local destination or walk on sidewalks that have seen better days. One way that Gwinnett County Parks has chosen to combat this issue is through the installation of greenways across the county. The beauty of greenways is that they connect residents to their community with linear pathways that are actually safe for walking, running and biking. Greenways play a crucial role in preserving natural habitats. Therefore, they not only link people to places but they also enrich the environment. Find a new rhythm as you explore the greenways in Gwinnett!

Singleton Park Greenway
Currently under construction in the city of Norcross, the Singleton Park Greenway will feature a 12-foot wide multi-use trail equipped with benches, rest areas and picturesque landscaping once open. One of the key features of this upcoming greenway is its connection between Singleton Road and Dickens Road which will connect the communities of Norcross and Lilburn.

Harris Greenway
Currently open, this 5.7-mile trail is named after Lloyd H. Harris who was a pivotal advocate for the preservation of parks for future generations in Gwinnett. With differing trail surfaces that include asphalt, concrete, bridges and timber boardwalks, this greenway’s design allows for a unique user experience! The greenway also connects to existing parkways located at Tribble Mill Park in Lawrenceville and Harbins Park in Dacula adding to a sense of connection across communities.

Ivy Creek Greenway Extension
