A short drive from Atlanta, right in the heart of Georgia, you will discover a quaint southern town named Perry. Perry is home to the Georgia National Fairgrounds and bustles with year-round rodeos, sports championships, agricultural shows and of course, the Georgia National Fair! But, there’s more to Perry than the fairgrounds! It’s a great place to spend the day and Downtown Perry is a must see!

Perry’s quaint downtown is a charming village of specialty shops that offer a variety of choices from southern boutiques, antique stores, to hunting & fishing supplies, making this shopping trip one that the boys won’t mindtoo! A favorite stop is Mossy Creek Natural for handmade bath and body products and they offer classes if you want to learn how you can make some of their popular pampering products. For the foodies out there, stop in at Striplings General Store, where you can get anything from pickled quail eggs to their world-famous sausage.

Feeling hungry? Perry has a wide variety of locally-owned restaurants ranging from scrumptious barbecueto downhome southern cooking. For those with a sweet tooth, Licking Good Donuts or A Couple of Jerk’s Soda Fountain will be sure to satisfy. To add to Perry’s southern hospitality, patrons are allowed to purchase cocktails in plastic cups, while strolling downtown or enjoying the parks.

For those with inquisitive minds and history buffs, Perry offers both walking and driving  tours, as well as hands-on education on fish! Yep—a must-do on your list should be going to the Go Fish Education Center, where you can spend time viewing live fish exhibits and learn how to catch fish in a stocked pond. You will be guaranteed toleave with a whopper of a fish tale so, don’t forget to take pictures as proof of your catch!

Perry has numerous hotels to stay in, so don’t feel like you’re in a rush to leave! There’s just so much to do!
