CELEBRATE PADDY’S DAY WITH IRISH FEST NORCROSS!

Fun Fact
Don’t let the Irish catch you calling it Patty’s Day –it’s Paddy’s for Pádraig, and that’s all we’ll be saying about it! paddynotpatty.com

Fáilte (welcome!) to Norcross, Diggers! For the first time EVER, the City of Norcross (in partnership with the Taste of Britain and the Drake School of Irish Dance) is holding a St. Patrick’s Day Festival!

Dubbed “Irish Fest Norcross”, this is a 100 percent family-friendly and FREE event. The entirety of S. Peachtree Street is being closed off for the festivities going on from 11am to 3pm on the 17th of March.

The Masonic Lodge invites you to start the day with a hearty, traditional Irish breakfast at 10am. This will be a delectable feast of eggs, rasher, black and white pudding (NOT the lunch-pack kind!), beans, grilled tomatoes and toast. Tickets are available for purchase starting March 1st from several of the downtown merchants.

After getting a full belly you’ll be ready for the festivities! Prepare yourself for the lilting tunes of the Celtic isles with performances by The Gentry, an Irish trio band,  and a string quartet—you’ll want to sing and dance like a ‘merry’ leprechaun and that’s just fine because on St. Paddy’s Day we’re all Irish!

You could also just watch the professionals—World Championship titles do classify, right?—from the Drake School of Irish Dance, or learn to jig PROPERLY with lessons from the master!

There will also be a hurling demonstration. “What’s ‘hurling’?” you may ask? It’s only the FASTEST field game in the WORLD….and also quite a fixture in Irish culture, so it will be quite interesting to see what that’s all about.

With samples and giveaways from the Taste of Britain, specialty lunch fare from your favorite restaurants, and other themed activities from various merchants around town, Irish Fest 2018 is a can’t miss event this season. Plus there’ll be plenty of Guinness! Just don’t forget to wear green!* Sláinte Mhaith! (Good Health/Cheers!)

*But if you do, DON’T WORRY. Visit the face painting station, and ask for a shamrock. #gotyourback
