If you haven’t tried traditional chicken katsu before, you’ve been missing out! Originating in Japan, this dish consists of juicy chicken cutlets that are fried in panko breadcrumbs until perfectly crispy. In Gwinnett, there are plenty of spots to choose from that have this delicious dish on their menu, including Aging Katsu in Suwanee.
Aging Katsu opened its doors this past July, adding a new option for authentic Japanese cuisine to the Gwinnett dining scene. This casual establishment specializes in chicken katsu and tonkatsu (which uses pork instead of chicken), with plenty of variations to choose from. They even offer a “make your own tonkatsu sauce,” which allows guests to customize their sauce and try their hand at grinding sesame seeds! This truly adds to the overall experience, making this establishment a great pick for families, first dates and get-togethers with friends.
For this week’s Foodie Friday feature, we’re spotlighting the chicken katsu from their menu! The chicken cutlet was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. As for the panko breading, which added a nice layer of crunchy goodness, it paired beautifully with the juicy and tender chicken. The coating was also light and not too heavy, allowing for the chicken cutlet to not be overpowered. Each order comes with a slice of lemon, shredded cabbage and a few side dishes, including pickled radish and a pineapple cube. This adds a nice balance of freshness and brightness to the overall dish.
Feeling hungry? Head over to Aging Katsu in Suwanee to try their tasty chicken katsu. You won’t regret it!
