Celebrate Multicultural Week and August Events in Duluth

Did you know Duluth is one of the most diverse places in Georgia? Its population is 36.9% White, 23.8% Black, 23.1% Asian, 15.3% Hispanic and 9.4% two or more races. All those numbers add up to one product: a diverse community that welcomes people from all backgrounds and cultures! This August, Duluth welcomes you to Multicultural Week, where you can experience international food, art and music and celebrate all the cultures that make up Duluth. Every night will offer new experiences and performances, so here is a breakdown of the week.

Multicultural Week will kick off on August 26, in Downtown Duluth, with live music by Mariachi Mexico. While you enjoy the lively atmosphere, pick up something to eat from one of the local restaurants! The fun continues the next evening with Parsons Thursday Nights Out: Multicultural Art in the Alley, where you can try your hand at multicultural crafts designed for artists of all ages and skill levels. On Friday night, Duluth’s weekly Rock the Block concert will take on a multicultural makeover, with international performances, food trucks and stations. Then on Saturday, don’t miss the Korean Foundation K-Pop Competition, where groups will put forth their best K-Pop song and dance performances and compete for the grand prize. Finally, wind down on Sunday with hands-on activities, inspired by cultures from around the world, at Multicultural Creativity, but be sure to register ahead of time to secure your spot!

Whether you make it a romantic date night and explore global eats from food trucks, or you bring the whole family for multicultural crafts, this week-long celebration is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the many cultures of Duluth. Of course, Multicultural Week isn’t the only event happening in Duluth this August! Rock the Block concerts are being held every Friday on the Town Green with different genres each week, and for our pop-lovers Duluth has an extra special treat. On August 8, Blank Space: The Unofficial Taylor Swift Tribute is bringing Swifties’ favorite hits to the Town Green. That’s not all—Duluth Festival Center is hosting friendship bracelet making on August 5, and Parsons Alley is hosting Taylor Swift music bingo on August 6.

It’s going to be a busy August in Duluth, with weekly concerts and a week of cultural celebrations. Take advantage of all the excitement, go make some memories and enjoy all Duluth has to offer! Click here for more information on Duluth’s upcoming events.
