If you’re an up-to-date DIG reader, you know we love Gwinnett County Public Library—and for good reason.

Each of the 15 branches is a third space where you can gather and, with a library card, enjoy free access to literature, newspapers, magazines, and technology. You can also join one of the many book clubs, hear from best-selling authors, or learn a new skill like gardening or sewing. Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL) is a cornerstone of our community, continually giving back to us in new and creative ways.

One of the most heartwarming ways GCPL gives back to the community is through its Family Literacy Classes. Thanks to a generous grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation, GCPL is partnering with Gwinnett County Schools to teach adults English and improve their speaking, reading, and comprehension skills. Gwinnett is a beautifully diverse county, with over 100 languages spoken and nearly 40% of households speaking a language other than English.

Many parents with children in the school system face day-to-day challenges communicating and supporting their kids. Here’s how you can help! GCPL is seeking volunteers to assist with these Family Literacy classes. You don’t need any prior teaching experience. The team leaders provide lesson plans and suggest interaction activities.
