We’re all looking for ways to improve ourselves this spring but many people struggle with knowing where to begin this journey. Of course, there are plenty of options for self-improvement but my all time favorite way is to get out of the house and into the community. With the help of Grow & Learn Workshops, people like you and I can absorb a number of skills, from classes on sustainable gardening to yoga in the yard, community service and more.
Looking for something casual? Head over to Downtown Lawrenceville’s up-and-coming plant store, T&T Plants and Things. Here you can participate in terrarium building workshops and bond with other plant lovers in your community as you learn to build your own micro-ecosystems. T&T also hosts plant care education classes as well as plant-themed bingo nights, where you can learn, compete, mix and mingle with the other botany-loving individuals near you!
Plant-lovers, stick around, because there are more nature-forward classes available to you! While these workshops have less to do with succulent terrariums and more to do with perennials and produce, Live Healthy Gwinnett’s hands-on gardening workshops will show you tips and tricks for keeping the perfect plot. Join gardeners of all skill levels and equip yourself with knowledge and tools about agriculture and environmental enrichment that will transform your backyard garden into a botanical nirvana.
But, if you’re like me, and you have the opposite of a green thumb, there is hope for you yet! You can still get connected with nature while attending a free outdoor fitness workshop in Johns Creek. Hosted in both Newtown Park and in Cauley Creek Park, these lessons are free, open to the public and all fitness levels are welcome! Here you will receive guidance from experienced instructors and can participate in anything from sunrise yoga to Zumba, weight-training, walking classes and more! Make the time to treat your body right this season and get those gains!
And, if working out is less of a priority than socializing, consider attending a Flow & Grow yoga class at Cultivation Brewery in Norcross! Here you can enjoy hops and headstands, sip a beer while you stretch and enjoy the relaxing routines, while spending time out in nature (with all the convenient indoor amenities refreshingly close by).
Whatever class you choose to attend, remember to acknowledge and feel pride in the hard work that you are putting forth this season to better yourself and the environment around you.
