A new Greek restaurant has taken the internet by storm by the name of Yeero Village. Located in Lawrenceville, Yeero Village is a family-run restaurant serving up authentic Mediterranean eats ranging from gyros to baklava. The restaurant’s building used to be an Arby’s but after renovations, it has transformed into a Mediterranean paradise. A dreamy Mediterranean blue has replaced the bright red along with nods to a coastal aesthetic from string lights and natural rattan lighting to pictures of Greece scattered around. The DiG team tried a little bit of everything from their menu to give you an inside scoop on the appetizers, mains, and desserts they offer!
Starting off strong, we tried four of their popular appetizers including fried zucchini with garlic dip, Greek wings, Greek nachos with traditional gyro, and saganaki. The zucchini was perfectly crisp and light which pairs well with the creamy garlic dip. As for the Greek wings, you can never go wrong with a crispy and juicy wing to start off your meal! One of our favorites from the lineup though was the Greek nachos which uses fried pita as the chips and is packed with toppings including gyro, feta, pepperoncini, cucumber, and tomato. The fried pita was delicious and the perfect vessel for eating nachos! Last up was the saganaki, a type of Greek dish where cheese is lit on fire and lightly fried giving it a crisp exterior and a melty gooey interior. If you want a show to go with your appetizer, make sure you order this unique dish!

For mains, we tried 10 dishes that showcase a variety of the menu’s offerings from traditional meats to seafood. Each dish was full of flavor and prepared beautifully. We first tried a classic at any Mediterranean spot which is a traditional gyro. The meat is freshly sliced and incredibly tender which when wrapped in a warm pita with tomato, fresh onion and tzatziki, makes for a delicious meal. Next, we sampled the Greek combo which includes pastichio, moussaka and spinach pie also known as spanakopita. The pastichio is a baked pasta dish with layers of macaroni, ground beef and a bechamel sauce, making it the perfect comfort dish. The moussaka like the pastichio contains layers of ground beef and a bechamel sauce but uses layers of eggplant and potato instead of noodles. You can’t go wrong with either option! To round out the Greek combo is the spanakopita consisting of crispy phyllo layers, spinach and feta cheese. We loved the texture of the crispy phyllo dough in this savory Greek-style pie!
Next, we tried the befteki platter consisting of ground beef patties, greek salad, pita and lemon potatoes with tzatziki. This was another winner for us as the beef was cooked to perfection. To get the perfect bite, you need to get a little bit of everything on this plate! We switched things up after the platter with the salmon and shrimp combo. If you’re a seafood lover, this is the dish for you! The salmon was nicely charred and flakey while the shrimp was juicy and full of flavor, especially when dunked in the tzatziki sauce.
Back to the meats, we tackled the Hercules combo platter that comes with an assortment of authentic and traditional gyro, chicken gyro, pork souvlaki and chicken souvlaki. Throw in some pita, tzatziki and a side of Greek potatoes or fries and this dish is fit for Hercules himself! For the last two entree meals, we had the baby lamp chops dinner with rice and the baked beef short ribs. The lamb chops were so tender that they fell off the bone and the baked beef short ribs were full of flavor. Say goodbye to dry lamb chops when you order out!

As we near the end of our Mediterranean flavor journey, the only thing left to try is an assortment of delicious and decadent desserts! They say there’s always room for a sweet treat after a long meal and this was no exception. We sampled a variety of their cakes and sweets including ekmek, baklava, raspberry cheesecake, red velvet cake and an orange cake which was our server’s personal favorite. Ekmek, for those who haven’t tried it, is a three-layer dessert full of sugar-soaked kataifi pastry, custard and whipped cream. It was truly one of the best desserts we’ve tried before, especially as the kataifi pastry adds a nice texture to the dessert.
The baklava was another favorite amongst the team. There’s something to be said about layers of crispy phyllo dough and nuts that create the perfect dessert. Throw in the honey syrup and this sweet pastry dessert is a winner in anyone’s books! The raspberry cheesecake had a nice balance of tart fruit and creamy cheesecake while the red velvet cake was moist and decadent. Lastly, the Greek orange cake which uses an orange syrup to soak the cake was a citrus flavor explosion! The sugar syrup adds so much moisture to the cake that makes each bite that much better.
Overall, our experience at Yeero Village was amazing and you can truly tell that the staff and team take pride in the dishes they create. Even though the building retains its drive-through window, the food you get here is far from fast food. The ingredients are fresh and the gyro is sliced fresh which makes a huge difference in flavor and overall taste of each dish! Our only recommendation when coming here is to arrive hungry because once you’re going to want to try everything from their menu! The next time you’re in Lawrenceville, stop by this family-owned establishment for delicious and authentic Greek food.
